en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, UPM Adhesive Materials, the adhesive materials business unit of Finland's UPM Group, confirmed plans to build its first adhesive label materials production plant in Gujarat, India. The facility is planned to be equipped with an acrylic-based coating line and is scheduled to begin operations in early 2028. The new plant will handle local manufacturing of adhesive label materials and will connect with UPM's existing and planned slitting and distribution facilities in India to supply products to local label printing and converting companies.

The core equipment of the new plant is an acrylic-based coating line, producing self-adhesive label materials. UPM plans to manufacture using India's local raw material supply system and to integrate materials produced at the new plant into India's domestic supply network.

UPM already operates a label materials slitting and distribution center near Mumbai and confirmed in March 2026 the addition of a slitting and distribution facility near New Delhi. Once the new Gujarat plant is operational, UPM's operations in India will extend from existing materials slitting and distribution to local coating manufacturing, forming an integrated production, slitting, and distribution system.
