Dongfang Electric Secures Largest Gas Turbine Order in History of Canadian Data Center Companies

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, Eco DC Solutions, a subsidiary of Canada's Adag Group, and Dongfang Steam Turbine Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Dongfang Electric Group, signed a cooperation agreement in Montreal to expand the procurement scale of G50 heavy-duty gas turbines from 10 units in early 2026 to 30 units. With all units configured in combined cycle, the planned power generation capacity exceeds 2.1 GW, intended to provide dedicated power for Canadian data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure, with planned investment in the related power generation projects exceeding CAD 8 billion.

The G50 is a 50 MW-class F-class heavy-duty gas turbine independently developed by Dongfang Steam Turbine. Under Eco DC Solutions' configuration plan, each unit paired with a combined cycle power generation system will have a generating capacity of approximately 70 MW. The proposed power generation facilities will adopt a behind-the-meter power supply model for data centers.

The agreement designates Eco DC Solutions as Dongfang Steam Turbine's North American partner and equipment importer, responsible for the supply, system integration, certification, and commissioning of G50 units in Canada. The equipment will bear the Eco DC Solutions brand identity and be supported by Dongfang Steam Turbine with long-term service.

Eco DC Solutions plans to establish a service facility in Montreal, with Dongfang Steam Turbine responsible for personnel training. The local team will handle spare parts supply, technical support, and long-term maintenance, and will participate in the engineering design, construction, commissioning, and operation of the supporting power plants.
