en.Wedoany.com Reported - At 3:27 on October 25, Unit 5 of the Phase III 2×1,000 MW expansion project of Guangdong Datang International Chaozhou Power Generation Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation, was successfully connected to the grid for the first time in a single attempt, officially entering the load trial operation stage. The project is located in Raoping County, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, and is jointly constructed by China Energy Engineering Group Construction Co., Ltd. It involves the construction of two domestically produced ultra-supercritical double-reheat coal-fired power generation units. Upon completion, the project is expected to add approximately 10 billion kWh of electricity generation per year.

Prior to grid connection, Unit 5 completed steam turbine rolling and related electrical tests, with the steam turbine smoothly ramping up to the rated speed of 3,000 rpm. Commissioning personnel focused on inspecting the generator excitation system, unit operating parameters and related equipment status, and coordinated with grid dispatch to complete the synchronization and grid connection operations. The unit was closed after its voltage, frequency and phase met the synchronization conditions, and all operating parameters remained stable.

The Phase III project of Datang Chaozhou Power Plant commenced construction in September 2024, adopting ultra-supercritical double-reheat technology, with desulfurization, denitrification and dust removal facilities constructed concurrently. China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. is responsible for the survey and design. The expansion project also includes supporting coal conveying and other auxiliary facilities. Unit 5 has previously completed commissioning milestones including the boiler hydrostatic test, first ignition and steam blowing.

Unit 5 will next carry out load commissioning, grid-related performance tests and a 168-hour full-load trial operation. The project team of China Energy Engineering Group Construction Co., Ltd. will continue to cooperate with the owner, supervision and commissioning units to complete relevant tests and defect resolution, and advance the unit's commissioning and handover.
