UK's GeoPura Launches 80 kW Towable Hydrogen Power Generator

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, Canada's Ballard Power Systems, through its UK subsidiary GeoPura, launched the HPU Agile-H towable hydrogen power generator, with a rated continuous output of 80 kW. The unit was designed by GeoPura and manufactured by Siemens Energy, and features Ballard proton exchange membrane fuel cells and an integrated battery energy storage system. It is now available for pre-order for off-grid construction sites, temporary power supply and emergency backup power markets, with the first commercial deliveries scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
The HPU Agile-H uses a hybrid fuel cell and battery energy storage power architecture, delivering 400 V three-phase AC power and compatible with both 50 Hz and 60 Hz supply frequencies. The fuel cell handles continuous power supply, while the battery system provides load regulation, peak power response and instant startup. The unit supports standalone off-grid operation, grid-synchronized operation and prime power operation modes, and multiple units can be operated in parallel to meet higher power demands or provide redundant power supply.
The equipment features a trailer-mounted structure and can be transported by an SUV or large box van that meets towing requirements. According to the deployment plan published by GeoPura, a single technician can complete on-site installation and deployment within 20 minutes. The system is supplied with hydrogen through a 10 bar gauge low-pressure hydrogen interface and is equipped with hydrogen leak detection, smoke and fire monitoring, and hard-wired safety interlocks. The unit's operating noise at a distance of 1 meter is below 65 dB.
The unit integrates cloud-based telemetry, remote diagnostics and operation control functions, with a design service life of 10 years and a target availability of 99%. GeoPura provides supporting low-carbon hydrogen production, storage and transportation services, as well as equipment operation monitoring and maintenance support. The unit has obtained CE, UL and CSA certifications and is sold in the UK, European and North American markets.
Siemens Energy will be responsible for volume manufacturing of the HPU Agile-H in the UK. The product is mainly used for temporary power at construction sites, film and television production, event venues, remote infrastructure construction and emergency power supply, and produces no carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides or particulate matter emissions during on-site operation.
