OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Dual-Account Switching Feature
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 30, the U.S. artificial intelligence company OpenAI updated the ChatGPT product log, beginning to gradually roll out the account switching feature to iOS and Android app users. Users can stay signed in to up to two ChatGPT accounts simultaneously within the same app and switch between them without signing out; the web version also supports this feature. After switching accounts, conversation history, memories, files, subscriptions, and workspaces remain attributed to their respective original accounts.

Mobile users can sign in to a second account via "Settings — Switch account — Add account," then select the account they want to use on the settings page. The feature is being rolled out in batches, so users who have not yet received it may temporarily not see the corresponding entry point. Web users can add or switch accounts through the account menu.
The account switching feature applies to different ChatGPT subscription plans, with only one account active at a time. Chat history, uploaded files, memories, and workspaces of the two accounts are not automatically shared or merged, and subscriptions and billing are managed separately. After a user switches to another account, the original account's paid subscription will not transfer to the new account.
On mobile, users can receive notifications for both signed-in accounts based on account notification settings and device permissions. When tapping a notification from the other account, the app can switch to that account and open the relevant content. For organization-managed work accounts, account switching does not change the existing workspace management policies or data access permissions.
