en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, Norwegian oil and gas company Aker BP awarded Subsea7 a subsea engineering contract for the Lyra field in the North Sea, with a contract value ranging from USD 150 million to USD 300 million. Subsea7 will undertake the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the gas lift pipeline, oil production pipeline, and associated subsea facilities, with first oil planned for 2028.

The Lyra field, formerly known as Kjøttkake, is located in the northern Norwegian North Sea, approximately 44 kilometers from the Gjøa offshore production platform. The field will be tied back to the Gjøa platform via the existing NOVA field infrastructure, using a subsea tie-back development solution. The contract covers the gas lift pipeline, production pipeline, and associated subsea facilities, with the production pipeline to use a pipe-in-pipe configuration.

Subsea7 will commence project management and engineering work at its Stavanger office in Norway, with pipeline fabrication to be completed at the Vigra pipeline fabrication base in Norway. Offshore work will be carried out by the Subsea7 vessel fleet, with operations scheduled between 2026 and 2028.

To meet the field's fast-track development schedule, Subsea7 secured early procurement commitments for critical long-lead equipment in December 2025. The contract is being progressed through collaboration within the Aker BP Subsea Alliance, whose members include Aker BP, Subsea7, and OneSubsea.

The Lyra field development plan involves 3 subsea production wells, with estimated recoverable resources of approximately 37 million barrels of oil equivalent and peak field production expected at approximately 20,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The project partners approved the development plan in late October 2026, with first oil planned for the first half of 2028. Aker BP holds a 45% interest in the project and is responsible for the development phase operations, while DNO holds a 40% interest, with operatorship planned to transfer to DNO after first oil.
