Malaysia's Northern Solar Awarded 189 MW Solar-Plus-Storage Power Supply Projects

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, Malaysian solar company Northern Solar, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Northern Solar Assets, accepted two letters of award for solar-plus-storage power supply projects, involving a total of 189 MW AC of photovoltaic installed capacity and supporting battery energy storage systems. Both projects are located in Johor, Malaysia, and will supply power to two local data centers through the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).

The first project comprises 100 MW AC of photovoltaic power generation facilities and a supporting battery energy storage system, corresponding to an annual electricity demand of 262.8 million kWh for the data center. The awarding party is a Malaysian company engaged in real estate investment and data center infrastructure business.

The second project comprises 89 MW AC of photovoltaic power generation facilities and a supporting battery energy storage system, corresponding to an annual electricity demand of 233.892 million kWh for the data center. The awarding party is the Malaysian subsidiary of a Singapore-based data center service operator. The combined annual electricity demand of the two data centers is 496.692 million kWh.

On November 3, Northern Solar submitted a response to a request for supplementary information from Bursa Malaysia, further clarifying that both data center projects are located in Johor. Both projects are currently at the letter of award acceptance stage, and the contract terms and project implementation arrangements will subsequently be finalized through formal agreements.
