The Embassy of the United Mexican States in China has formally notified our Association of its acceptance to serve as the Guest of Honor Country at the 15th China Overseas Investment Fair (x). Mexicco will deeply engage in this year's event by organizing trade and investment promotion activities and hosting a national exhibition. This participation aims to strengthen bilateral relations and advance practical cooperation in trade and investment through the COIFAIR platform.
As one of China’s comprehensive strategic partners in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)—the highest diplomatic status in the region—Mexico has seen rapidly growing economic ties with China. China is Mexico’s second-largest trading partner, while Mexico ranks as China’s second-largest trading partner in Latin America, with bilateral trade exceeding $100 billion in 2024. In 2023, China’s newly added FDI to Mexico reached $151 million, bringing the total stock to $2.452 billion, primarily focused on energy, telecommunications, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, mining, and finance.
Mexico possesses abundant natural resources, a robust mining sector, and a well-developed industrial system. Its automotive industry—a pillar of the manufacturing sector—leads the economy. Recently, Mexico has prioritized digital and green economies, accelerating growth in e-commerce, fintech, online education, and telemedicine. Concurrently, the government has enhanced the business climate through new investment policies, safeguarding international investors’ rights. These reforms present fresh opportunities for Chinese enterprises.
Leveraging COIFAIR, CODA will collaborate with member enterprises to expand China-Mexico investment and economic cooperation, propelling mutual prosperity.
