Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 24, Western Uranium & Vanadium Corp, headquartered in Nucla, Colorado, has started delivering uranium-bearing ore from its Sunday Mine Complex in Colorado to Energy Fuels’ White Mesa mill in Utah, the only operational conventional uranium mill in the U.S. The company announced in its mid-year update that deliveries began in June, with approximately 792 tons of mostly stockpiled material sent to the mill in June and July. This follows an ore purchase agreement with Energy Fuels for up to 25,000 short tons over a one-year period, with mining and stockpiling at the Sunday Mine Complex starting in 2023.

The company is prioritizing the development of its own Mustang Mineral Processing Plant at the former Pinon Ridge Mill site in Colorado, acquired in 2024, to produce yellowcake in-house. Baseline data collection for the Mustang project began in January, with plans to prepare a radioactive materials license application in the first quarter of 2026. Western noted that the Mustang facility’s proximity to the Sunday Mine Complex reduces hauling costs compared to its proposed Maverick Minerals Processing Plant in Utah, making it the preferred development focus.
Western is also rehabilitating additional areas of the Sunday Mine Complex to expand production capacity. The company is exploring cost-effective opportunities to increase output, including re-permitting the Topaz Mine, rehabilitating the Sage Mine, reassessing the Van 4 Mine for new access methods, and advancing development with Rimrock Exploration and Development Inc. through a joint venture. Additionally, progress is being made on the San Rafael Project, with the next phase involving the installation of monitor wells. Western stated: “Progress has been made on each of these initiatives. Opportunities to acquire additional uranium properties are also being considered.”
With assets across western Utah and eastern Colorado, Western Uranium & Vanadium aims to strengthen its role in the uranium and vanadium markets through expanded mining and in-house processing capabilities, supporting sustainable growth in the region’s mineral industry.
