CNNC Nuclear Fuel and Materials R&D Center Unveiled to Build a High Ground for Independent Innovation in Nuclear Fuel and Materials

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 13, the unveiling ceremony of the CNNC Nuclear Fuel and Materials R&D Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Nuclear Fuel and Materials Center") was held at China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation. Zhang Tao, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of CNNC, attended the event and unveiled the Nuclear Fuel and Materials Center.

China's 15th Five-Year Plan for building a new-type energy system explicitly proposes actively, safely, and orderly developing nuclear power, with installed nuclear power capacity in operation reaching approximately 110 million kilowatts by 2030. Nuclear fuel and materials are the core foundation of nuclear energy development and a key link in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of nuclear power. This optimization and upgrading of the organizational system of the Nuclear Fuel and Materials Center is a key measure by CNNC to deepen the management improvement of its nuclear fuel R&D system and remove management bottlenecks and difficulties. It is also a major deployment by CNNC, building on years of independent nuclear fuel R&D, to anchor itself to national and industry needs, further enhance the advanced nature, reliability, and economic efficiency of nuclear fuel, and further strengthen its independent innovation capability in nuclear fuel.

The Nuclear Fuel and Materials Center relies on China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation for its substantive operation, integrating relevant units within CNNC across R&D, manufacturing, and operation. By introducing the IPD concept, strengthening demand orientation, and deepening the integration of R&D and production, it aims to build a collaborative and efficient new-type R&D organizational system. The Nuclear Fuel and Materials Center will focus on industry development needs, concentrate on frontier directions in nuclear fuel, pool resources to overcome key technologies and create core products, continuously improve the reliability and economic efficiency of nuclear fuel, advance the process of nuclear fuel self-reliance, and provide strong support for the high-quality development of the nuclear energy industry.

Xue Xiaogang, Deputy Chief Engineer of CNNC, heads of departments including Strategic Development, Corporate Management and Legal Affairs, Business Development, Finance and Capital, and Science and Technology Innovation, as well as members of the leadership team of China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation, attended the event.
