Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 16, From September 9 to 11, BASF participated in the tenth Agroglobal trade fair, a key professional agricultural event held at the National Exhibition Center (CNEMA) in Santarém, Portugal. The company presented a diverse portfolio, including vegetable seeds, crop protection solutions, and advanced digital tools, highlighting its commitment to supporting farmers with integrated agricultural solutions.

"We are showcasing our full potential in the agricultural sector," said Rita Presume, Multicrop Manager at BASF|Nunhems in Portugal, emphasizing the importance of combining various divisions to deliver efficient solutions tailored to farmers' needs.

Vegetable Seeds

BASF highlighted four key crops: fresh and industrial tomatoes, carrots, leeks, and outdoor peppers. For fresh tomatoes, BASF introduced varieties resistant to rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV), such as the Cabosur* vine-ripening tomato, Azovian pear, and Daivion* round cherry, which are already market leaders in Spain. These varieties prioritize resistance, productivity, and fruit quality.

For industrial tomatoes, BASF offered a field demonstration at Quinta da Alorna, showcasing varieties like N4307*, noted for its "high production potential, fruit quality, and excellent plant health," according to Presume.

In carrots, BASF presented Dorlago*, a new variety with improved plant health and the "perfect shape" inherited from its benchmark Dordogne. For leeks, BASF introduced Maxton* and Bokston*, high-yield, thrips-tolerant varieties designed for easy cleaning. In outdoor peppers, the Rionas* yellow variety, optimized for mechanical harvesting, was launched, offering high productivity and tolerance to micro- and macrocracking.

Crop Protection Solutions

BASF showcased two fungicides: Cabrio® WG and Enervin® Pro. Cabrio® WG, formulated with pyraclastrobin, targets downy mildew, powdery mildew, and Alternaria. "Cabrio® WG is a broad-spectrum fungicide," said Angela Gonçalves, Country Manager of BASF Agro Portugal, adding that "with a single application, we can control both downy mildew and powdery mildew." Its rapid leaf penetration and lasting efficacy make it highly effective.

Enervin® Pro combines Initium and potassium phosphate in a water-soluble formulation, approved for crops like tomatoes, zucchini, escarole, endives, and vines, offering robust mildew control.

Digital Farming Tools

BASF introduced Agrigenius®, a digital decision-making tool now available for tomato crops in Portugal. Using field sensors, it collects data on temperature, humidity, and pest risks, providing tailored management and treatment recommendations. According to Gonçalves, this results in "optimized production and product quality" and improved crop management.

Through its comprehensive display at Agroglobal, BASF demonstrated its dedication to advancing agricultural productivity and sustainability with innovative seeds, crop protection, and digital solutions.
