Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 9, Peróxidos do Brasil (www.peroxidos.com.br) has announced the construction of a new myH₂O₂® satellite hydrogen peroxide plant in Inocência, Brazil, to supply Arauco’s Sucuriú project — the company’s largest global investment and a transformative pulp mill development.

Hydrogen peroxide is a critical chemical for clean pulp bleaching and water treatment, offering a safer and more sustainable alternative to traditional reagents. The proprietary myH₂O₂® technology, developed by Solvay, enables on-site production near customers in remote or infrastructure-limited regions, reducing transport distances and environmental impact.

The new plant will be installed directly at Arauco’s mill and is designed to produce 25,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide per year. This output will fully cover Arauco’s requirements, with any surplus available for local market supply. Advanced automation systems will ensure seamless integration, high operational efficiency, and reliable supply.

Carlos Silveira, President of Solvay’s Peroxides business, commented: “This project marks a major step forward in our partnership with Arauco and our commitment to sustainable, customer-focused innovation. By deploying our myH₂O₂® model, we’re not only optimizing logistics and reducing emissions, but also strengthening our presence in Brazil’s fast-growing pulp sector.”

Arauco’s Sucuriú Project represents a US$4.6 billion investment and will feature one of the world’s largest single-line pulp mills, with an annual capacity of 3.5 million tons of bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp. The mill is scheduled to begin operations by 2028.

The new hydrogen peroxide facility demonstrates a shift towards decentralized chemical production, reducing supply chain risks and minimizing the carbon footprint associated with transporting bulk chemicals. By situating the plant on-site, Peróxidos do Brasil ensures that the mill has consistent, reliable access to this essential reagent, supporting uninterrupted pulp production and operational efficiency.

This investment also reinforces Solvay and PQM’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation in the Brazilian pulp sector. By aligning chemical production closely with industrial demand, the project enhances resource efficiency and operational resilience.

Peróxidos do Brasil, a joint venture between Solvay and Produtos Químicos Makay (PQM), continues to expand its footprint in Latin America, leveraging myH₂O₂® technology to bring cleaner, more efficient chemical solutions to large-scale industrial customers. The project underscores the growing importance of integrated supply solutions and customer-focused innovation in the global pulp and paper industry.

The Sucuriú mill, once operational, is expected to position Arauco as a global leader in sustainable pulp production, combining advanced manufacturing technology with environmentally conscious chemical use. The on-site hydrogen peroxide plant is central to achieving these objectives, highlighting the role of localized, high-tech chemical solutions in modern industrial operations.
