Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 19, EcoSolar Energy Corporation (ESEC), a subsidiary of Philippines-based PetroGreen Energy Corporation, has secured an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for its 20-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Panitan, Capiz province.

The certificate was announced in a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange. It grants ESEC the necessary clearance and associated environmental responsibilities to develop the 20 MW BESS facility, complete with related electro-mechanical equipment and civil works, on a 0.6-hectare site.

PetroGreen Energy Assistant Vice President Yrel Ventura stated that the issuance of the ECC comes after several key pre-development milestones. These include endorsements from local government units in April and June 2025, as well as approval of the system impact study by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines in October 2025.

“All these bring us closer to constructing and operating our Panitan BESS project by the fourth quarter of 2026 to support stability of the Panay sub-grid and hence add energy security for Panay communities,” he said.

The Panitan BESS is designed to enhance grid reliability on Panay Island by storing excess energy and releasing it during periods of high demand or supply interruptions. The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the power infrastructure in the Visayas region and support the integration of renewable energy sources.

Once operational, the facility is expected to contribute to a more stable and resilient electricity supply for residential, commercial, and industrial users across the Panay sub-grid. The scheduled completion in the final quarter of 2026 aligns with ongoing initiatives to improve energy security in the area.
