Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 22, Toyo Ink India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan’s artience Group, has revealed plans to significantly expand liquid ink production capacity at its Gujarat Plant in western India. The new facility, scheduled to begin operations in 2028, will increase the company’s total liquid ink output by approximately 50 per cent.

The investment responds to strong and sustained growth in India’s packaging sector, driven by rising consumer spending, an expanding middle class, and evolving consumption patterns. These trends are generating substantial demand for high-quality liquid packaging inks used in flexible packaging, labels, and other applications.

Shekhar Barua, head of the liquid ink and plastic colorant business units at Toyo Ink India, said: “The decision to expand production capacity comes at a time when our Gujarat plant is nearing full capacity amid India’s surging demand. This expansion marks a pivotal step in our journey to lead India’s liquid ink market. By scaling up capacity and strengthening our sustainable portfolio, we are committed to delivering innovative solutions that meet evolving customer needs. Our Gujarat plant will not only serve India but also position us as a regional export hub for future growth.”

Toyo Ink India entered the liquid ink segment in 2011 initially through imports. Local manufacturing started in 2013 with the Delhi Plant, followed by the commissioning of the Gujarat Plant in 2021. Through rapid introduction of market-specific products and consistent quality improvements, the company has steadily grown its presence and market share in India’s competitive packaging ink sector.

The upcoming expansion will further reinforce Toyo Ink India’s manufacturing base, enhance supply reliability for domestic customers, and establish the Gujarat facility as a strategic centre for potential future exports across the region.
