Wedoany.com Report-Dec.18, Aecom has secured a 10-year contract valued at up to $270 million from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to deliver architecture and engineering services across the agency's eastern, central, and western regions.

The contract encompasses the design of new and modernized air traffic control towers, radar facilities, and associated lighting systems. Aecom's responsibilities include comprehensive architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, fire safety, and environmental engineering, along with construction administration oversight.

Structured as an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity multiple award arrangement, the framework allows for efficient management of various projects under a unified process.

Bane Gaiser, Aecom's chief executive of buildings and places, said: "Our team has successfully delivered more than $100bn of aviation projects globally, including the design and delivery of more than 20 air traffic control towers to date."

Karl Jensen, Aecom's executive vice-president of government business, said: "As we continue our 44-year partnership with the FAA, we're proud to expand our current portfolio in the eastern region to deepen our impact across the central and western regions."

Aecom maintains a dedicated aviation team of 1,000 specialists. The company has recently been awarded additional contracts, including construction support services at Florence Regional Airport in South Carolina and design services at Chicago Rockford International Airport in Illinois.

This latest award extends Aecom's longstanding collaboration with the FAA, building on decades of experience in supporting critical aviation infrastructure. The broad geographic coverage enables coordinated enhancements to facilities essential for safe and efficient air traffic management nationwide.

By providing integrated design and engineering expertise, Aecom contributes to the modernization of aging systems and the implementation of advanced technologies in control towers and related structures.

The multi-region scope facilitates consistent standards and streamlined project execution across diverse operational environments. This approach supports the FAA's objectives for reliable, high-performance facilities that meet evolving demands in air transportation.

Aecom's global track record in aviation projects, combined with specialized resources, positions the firm to address complex requirements effectively. The contract underscores confidence in Aecom's capabilities to deliver sustainable and innovative solutions tailored to regulatory and operational needs.

Recent complementary awards at regional airports further demonstrate Aecom's active role in advancing U.S. aviation infrastructure at both national and local levels.

Overall, the agreement reinforces Aecom's leadership in the sector, enabling continued contributions to enhanced safety, capacity, and resilience in the national airspace system through expert engineering and design services.
