Wedoany.com Report-Dec.19, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has successfully completed grid connection for a major battery energy storage project with a total nameplate capacity of 7.8 GWh.

The initiative comprises three sites situated in the southwestern regions: Najran, Khamis Mushait, and Madaya. Each location features a storage capacity of 2.6 GWh and is integrated into the transmission network at 380 kV voltage level.

Owned by Saudi Electricity Company, the project has National Grid SA as the offtaker. Algihaz Holding executed the development under a comprehensive turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract. The scope encompassed operations and maintenance services, along with the provision and integration of high-voltage transformer equipment.

This achievement marks a significant addition to the Kingdom's energy storage infrastructure, enhancing grid reliability and supporting the integration of renewable energy sources.

The distributed configuration across multiple sites contributes to improved regional power management and operational flexibility within the national electricity system.
