en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 7, Vena Energy selected OptiGrid to provide trading optimization services for its Bellambi Heights battery energy storage project in New South Wales, Australia. The project has a total capacity of 408MW, comprising two adjacent 204MW storage units, both currently under construction, with commercial operation scheduled for 2027.

The two 204MW units are subject to separate commercial arrangements. One 204MW/510MWh storage unit signed a long-term revenue sharing agreement with Danish energy trading company InCommodities in March 2026, with the agreement valued at approximately AUD 200 million. Under this agreement, InCommodities assumes market risk and trading responsibilities, while Vena Energy retains project ownership and operational control.

OptiGrid will use its OptiBidder platform to facilitate Bellambi Heights' participation in Australia's National Electricity Market, covering the energy market and the Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) market. The platform will automatically submit trading bids based on electricity price forecasts, state of charge, and market dispatch conditions. Vena Energy selected OptiGrid as the project's trading optimization service provider following a data-driven assessment.

Vena Energy has also completed two green financing deals this year totaling approximately AUD 1.4 billion, covering multiple solar and storage projects across Australia, including 614MW of solar assets and 1141MWh of battery energy storage capacity. The projects are located in South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales, including two adjacent 583MWh storage units currently under construction in New South Wales.

A portion of the Bellambi Heights project's capacity has secured long-term revenue arrangements through InCommodities, while the remaining merchant capacity will participate in the spot energy and FCAS markets via OptiGrid. The project has completed its primary financing and partial revenue arrangements. Subsequent construction, grid connection, and trading system integration will continue to advance, with the goal of achieving commercial operation in 2027.
