AzerEnerji Builds 750MVA Substation in Azerbaijan
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 7, Azerbaijan's state power company AzerEnerji is constructing a new "Sea Breeze" substation at the junction of the Pirshaghi and Novkhani residential areas in Baku. The project's voltage level is 220/110/10kV, with a total transmission capacity of 750MVA, covering an area of approximately 5.8 hectares. Most of the project works have been completed, and it is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2026.
In the early stages of the project, large-scale site filling and drainage works were completed, along with the construction of drainage and water collection systems to manage precipitation and groundwater around the substation and adjacent residential areas. AzerEnerji is simultaneously carrying out the main substation works and associated grid connection facilities.
To connect the new substation to Baku's power system, a total of 17.5 km of 220kV underground cable lines are being laid in parallel with the project. Once operational, the substation will be integrated into Baku's existing 220kV ring power supply network and connected to the 110kV grid, serving the Sea Breeze project, Baku city areas, and new power loads on the Absheron Peninsula.
This project corresponds to the power infrastructure development arrangements outlined in the "Baku 2040 City Master Plan." As the Sea Breeze project continues to expand, AzerEnerji is simultaneously increasing regional transmission capacity. The new 750MVA substation will serve as a local power access node and help share the load of existing substations.
