en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 21, U.S. energy company NextEra Energy announced its third-quarter 2026 results. Its Energy Resources business added 3.7 GW of renewable energy and battery storage project pipeline, of which battery storage projects accounted for 2.4 GW. By the end of the third quarter, the business's cumulative project pipeline stood at approximately 36.7 GW. The company's adjusted net income for the period reached USD 2.592 billion, up 10.4% year on year, with adjusted earnings per share of USD 1.24, beating market expectations of USD 1.18.

New storage projects added during the quarter accounted for approximately 65% of the newly added pipeline. Following the release of second-quarter results in July, the company placed an additional 1.8 GW of projects into operation, and the related capacity was removed from the pipeline list. The 36.7 GW represents project capacity still within the pipeline scope, not generation and storage capacity that has all been built.

In addition to renewable energy projects, NextEra Energy Resources signed formal agreements for three federal energy hub projects, two in Texas and one in Pennsylvania, with total capacity of approximately 16.5 GW. The company has secured USD 5.7 billion in initial funding for these projects so far in 2026 and plans to participate by charging fees for development, construction and operation services without bearing project capital investment. The projects are scheduled to begin operations as early as 2028 to 2029.

In the co-development of large power-consuming facilities, the company is also advancing a data center campus project at the U.S. Department of Energy site in Paducah, Kentucky, with plans to build and own up to 2 GW of natural gas-fired generation facilities and a 2.6 GW battery energy storage system to provide dedicated power to the campus. This project is a separate development plan and is not counted as a direct component of the 3.7 GW of new pipeline added this quarter.

NextEra Energy's transmission and distribution and natural gas pipeline businesses are also expanding. As of the third quarter, related regulated capital, invested capital and committed capital expenditures totaled approximately USD 12.7 billion, up approximately 25% from the end of 2025. Florida Power & Light's third-quarter capital expenditures were approximately USD 2.4 billion, and its full-year 2026 capital investment plan is approximately USD 12 billion.
