Wedoany.com Report-Dec.26 , VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, a member of Vingroup, has signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Framework Agreement with Siemens Mobility, in Hanoi. This collaboration aims to advance the development of high-speed rail infrastructure in Vietnam.
Siemens Mobility's Velaro Novo train can reach speed up to 350km/h.
Under the agreement, Siemens Mobility will serve as a technology partner, supporting VinSpeed in the design, supply, and integration of Velaro Novo high-speed trains along with essential railway subsystems. These include European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 signalling with automatic train operation, telecommunications, and electrification systems. Both parties have expressed commitment to close cooperation, laying the groundwork for future implementation contracts that meet international standards.
The partnership focuses on two specific high-speed routes. The first is the Ha Noi–Quang Ninh (Ha Long) line, spanning 121 kilometres with four stations. The second is the Ben Thanh–Can Gio line, covering 54 kilometres with two stations. Each route will incorporate advanced technologies for signalling, electrification, and communications to ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability.
The Velaro Novo, Siemens Mobility's latest high-speed train platform, is designated as the primary rolling stock for these projects. It is capable of reaching speeds up to 350 km/h and features a wider carbody design for increased passenger capacity. The model also consumes approximately 30% less energy than previous generations, while being well-suited to varied terrain through its ability to handle steep gradients.
Siemens Mobility is further considering the provision of advanced maintenance services to support long-term system availability. The company has maintained a presence in Vietnam since 1993, with offices in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, delivering solutions across transportation, energy, and other sectors.
Pham Thieu Hoa, Chief Executive Officer of VinSpeed, said: "The strategic cooperation with Siemens Mobility marks an important step in VinSpeed's roadmap for developing modern transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam. The combination of VinSpeed's project execution capabilities and deep understanding of the domestic market with Siemens Mobilit's global experience and advanced technology will create a strong foundation for delivering international-standard high-speed rail lines, contributing to socioeconomic development and improving quality of life for the Vietnamese people."
Michael Peter, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Mobility, said: "We are proud that the global frontrunner VinSpeed has selected Siemens Mobility to deliver Vietnam's first high-speed rail lines. This confidence in our turnkey expertise and technology underscores Siemens' position as the partner of choice for ambitious mobility projects worldwide."
This agreement represents a significant milestone in promoting modern rail transport in Vietnam, combining local project expertise with proven global technology to support enhanced connectivity and sustainable development.
