Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Laos 230kV Mahaxay Power Transmission and Transformation Project, led and EPC-contracted by China Energy Engineering Group Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., was held in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

Laos Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Chanthaboun Soukaloun, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Laos Li Xizhen, as well as representatives from power enterprises of both China and Laos jointly attended the ceremony. This power transmission and transformation project will involve the construction of a new 230 kV substation and transmission lines with a total length of approximately 91 kilometers. It is a key backbone project connecting the northern and southern power grids of Laos.

Upon completion, the project is expected to help enhance the integrity and power supply reliability of Laos' national grid, optimize the regional grid structure, provide infrastructure support for alleviating local electricity supply-demand imbalances, and play a positive role in promoting Laos' economic and social development. As the project leader, China Energy Engineering Group Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. stated that it will coordinate resources from all parties, steadily advance project construction, and ensure the project is commissioned on schedule.
