The Albanian government recently formulated and approved a mining industry development strategy for the period 2026 to 2040. According to the plan, the government intends to invest over 1.8 billion euros to promote the overall development of the domestic mining sector. This move aims to enhance the industry's modernization and meet the requirements for its integration into the European integration process.

The strategic plan will be implemented in two main phases. The first phase, up to 2030, focuses on significantly increasing capital investment in the mining sector, an arrangement aligned with Albania's goal of joining the European Union. The second phase, from 2031 to 2040, is defined as the consolidation phase, with the emphasis shifting to maintaining and further expanding the development achievements made in the mining industry during the earlier period.

The Albanian government stated that significant investment in the mining industry is indeed needed in the coming years to drive its development. This long-term strategic plan is based on a realistic assessment of the country's resource endowment and economic development needs.
