Wedoany.com Report on Feb 2nd, BP and the U.S. agricultural technology company Corteva Agriscience recently jointly announced the formal establishment of a joint venture named Etlas™, focused on developing sustainable crop-based feedstocks for producing renewable fuels. This joint venture will utilize existing farmland to cultivate crops such as canola, mustard, and sunflowers during the intervals between main food crop seasons, aiming to increase feedstock supply while avoiding the expansion of agricultural land.

The initial feedstock supply is planned to commence in 2027, with annual production expected to expand to approximately 1 million tons by the mid-2030s, capable of producing over 800,000 tons of low-carbon fuels annually, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This initiative aims to strengthen the biofuel value chain by leveraging bp's integrated downstream capabilities and Corteva's advanced seed technology, supporting decarbonization goals in the transportation sector.
Executive leadership positions at Etlas have been jointly appointed by both companies, reflecting a shared commitment to the long-term development of sustainable bio-feedstocks. By integrating resources and technology, the joint venture is expected to drive the scaled production of biofuel feedstocks and provide support for the global energy transition.
