Wedoany.com Report on Feb 6th, Recently, the installation of the reactor internals for Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Unit 4, constructed by China Nuclear Industry Fifth Construction Co., Ltd. (CNI5), was successfully completed. This marks the full completion of the installation of all core equipment within the nuclear island for Unit 4, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent cold functional tests.
Known as the "backbone" of the reactor, the reactor internals are divided into upper and lower parts. They are the core equipment of the nuclear power plant reactor and the key component with the longest construction cycle among the main equipment of the nuclear island. Since the reactor internals were introduced into the nuclear island reactor building, CNI5 has fully carried forward the fine tradition of the "Hualong Iron Army" characterized by "courageously undertaking national responsibilities and overcoming difficulties." Through meticulous management, it overcame challenges such as the complex construction environment of the core refueling pool steel lining and extensive cross-work, completing all installation tasks with high quality.
The installation of reactor internals involves complex processes and high technical difficulty, including a series of key procedures such as precise grinding of outlet nozzles, high-precision alignment measurement of upper and lower components, machining and grinding of U-shaped inserts, and cold installation of positioning pins. To ensure precise control and reliable quality during the construction process, the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Project Department innovatively conducted 2 key process tests, organized 3 experience feedback thematic study sessions, performed 4 key process sand table simulations, and compiled 2 key process guidance plans and over 10 detailed construction process cards, providing strong assurance for the successful first-time placement of the reactor internals into the reactor.
Moving forward, CNI5 will continue to uphold its core values of "Responsibility, Safety, Innovation, and Excellence," uniting efforts and pursuing excellence to steadily advance various mainline tasks before the cold tests for Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Unit 4, contributing CNI5's strength to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
