Wedoany.com Report on Feb 12th, Walter has recently launched the new Drion·tec E-Peak D5150 exchangeable drill head, aiming to achieve "peak productivity" in high-performance drilling applications. Through optimized design, this tool delivers extremely high feed rates and metal removal rates, effectively reducing cost per hole and offering advantages over traditional systems.

The D5150 exchangeable drill head can drill holes without the need for a pilot hole, eliminating an entire machining stage and its associated cycle time, significantly improving machining efficiency. Furthermore, the DS50 exchangeable drill head developed by Walter supports direct replacement inside the machine without screws, simplifying the changeover process, shortening setup time, and helping to maintain continuous production.

The drill body features a reinforced radial contact point and an inclined axial contact surface design, effectively absorbing cutting forces to ensure stable and reliable operation even under demanding conditions. The three-dimensional flute geometry, combined with a high-performance through-coolant system, promotes reliable chip evacuation, performing excellently especially on inclined or curved cutting surfaces. Additionally, the patented cutting point design includes axial pull-out protection, ensuring the cutting head remains secure during retraction, while the low-vibration DS50 head further enhances machining accuracy.

Walter equips the D5150 exchangeable drill head with a versatile M-type geometry and offers two cutting grades, WPP35 and WMS35, enabling it to operate efficiently across a wide range of cutting parameters, suitable for various materials and application scenarios. The initial launch covers a diameter range from 9 mm to 17.99 mm, including nominal inch sizes, with drilling depths of 3xD, 5xD, and 8xD. The same drill body supports multiple head sizes, helping to reduce inventory requirements and lower procurement costs.
