Lake Resources CEO David Dickson confirmed: "2026 will be the pivotal year for the final investment decision, a step that signifies securing definitive financial commitments to advance construction." Once the investment decision is made, the engineering for the Kachi Lithium Project is expected to take approximately 30 months.

The Kachi Lithium Project plans to achieve an annual production of 25,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate in its first phase, targeting nameplate capacity by the second year of operation. The project also includes a second-phase expansion that will increase annual output to 50,000 tonnes.

The project utilizes direct lithium extraction technology, implemented through ion exchange, provided by Lilac Solutions, which holds a 20% stake in the project. This system aims to reduce freshwater consumption compared to traditional pond evaporation methods, enhance mineral recovery rates, and optimize operating costs.

According to company data, lithium carbonate prices rose by over 79% between November 2025 and February 2026, reaching an average of approximately $21,924 per tonne in key international markets. With global lithium demand projected to double between 2025 and 2030, driven by energy storage systems and electric vehicles, the Kachi Lithium Project is emerging as one of the strategic assets within Argentina's lithium development portfolio.
