Argentine Minister of Production and Mining, Ignacio Lupión, led an official delegation on a strategic visit to the Salar de Hombre Muerto lithium project to oversee its progress. Operated by POSCO Argentina, a South Korean company, the project aims to promote local mining development.

During the visit, the delegation toured the under-construction lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide production facilities, with the plant expected to be completed in 2026. Local engineers showcased the technological advancements, reflecting the industry's absorption of professional talent. POSCO Argentina President Park Hyun attended the meeting, confirming the industrial expansion timeline, which will help Salta Province play a significant role in the global energy transition.

The Salar de Hombre Muerto lithium project is not only a manifestation of technological progress but also seen as an economic engine for the province. It is estimated to create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. Minister Ignacio Lupión stated: "The challenge is to advance lithium mining with industrial scale, technology, and predictability. Industrialization at the source is key to generating skilled employment and sustainable development."

Beyond mining activities, POSCO Argentina emphasized its commitment to corporate social responsibility, including providing scholarships, vocational training, and medical support for indigenous and local communities. Through this visit, the Salta provincial government reinforced its policy of "clear rules and continuous dialogue," aiming to attract investment through legal security and transform natural resources into high value-added industrial products. The Salar de Hombre Muerto lithium project is expected to achieve full operation in 2026, becoming a key driver for local sustainable development.
