en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK's Princess Anne visited the headquarters of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea, on July 14, meeting with HD Hyundai Chairman Ki-sun Chung and other senior executives to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between South Korea and the UK in the shipbuilding and maritime sectors.

According to HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, the delegation visiting the Ulsan headquarters included UK's Princess Anne, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and UK Ambassador to South Korea Colin Crooks. HD Hyundai Chairman Ki-sun Chung, Vice Chairman Sang-kyun Lee, and President Won-ho Joo received the delegation, exchanging views on shipbuilding technology and discussing ways to strengthen the shipbuilding and maritime industries between South Korea and the UK.

The visit comes as the UK government seeks to bolster its domestic shipbuilding and maritime industries. During the tour, Princess Anne and her delegation visited commercial vessel and warship construction facilities as well as the engine plant, while also learning about the company's defense partnerships with Rolls-Royce and UK defense firm Beaufort.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' collaboration with Rolls-Royce began in 2012, when the two companies worked together on a South Korean Navy frigate project, with Rolls-Royce supplying the MT30 gas turbine and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries integrating the propulsion system for the next-generation frigates built for the South Korean Navy. The partnership with Beaufort started in 2013 through submarine life support equipment, and has since expanded to include the provision of lifesaving equipment for offshore patrol vessels built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries for the Philippine Navy.

Ki-sun Chung stated that the UK has been a key partner since the early days of HD Hyundai's establishment, and the company will continue to support the long-term development of the UK's shipbuilding and maritime industries.
