Weir Launches Next-Generation WARMAN MCR² Grinding Circuit Pump
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Weir has launched the next-generation WARMAN® MCR²® grinding circuit pump, integrating eight patented technologies in hydraulics, wear management, serviceability, and condition monitoring into a single design to address the operational uncertainties caused by constantly changing grinding circuit conditions.

As ore body characteristics become increasingly complex, variations in wear, maintenance requirements, and equipment condition make operating cycles harder to plan, increasing uncertainty in production, maintenance, and total cost of ownership. Weir developed this pump based on decades of slurry pump expertise and operational insights from the world's largest installed base of grinding circuit pumps, meeting higher throughput requirements while retaining the installation dimensions of existing WARMAN® grinding circuit pumps—eliminating the need for major infrastructure modifications.
The pump has undergone field trials in high-wear grinding circuit applications across three continents, with its performance under demanding conditions validated and its role in extending operating cycles and improving operational predictability further confirmed. The integrated NEXT condition and performance monitoring functionality enables operators to continuously track critical health status and operating parameters, helping to detect changes in process behavior earlier and support more consistent performance output throughout the operating cycle.
John McNulty, Weir's Global Vice President of Engineering and Technology, stated that grinding circuit conditions continue to evolve, with operators facing more challenging ore bodies while seeking to maximize performance from existing assets. WARMAN MCR² technology applies Weir's capabilities in hydraulics, materials science, and digital technology to the areas of the pump where wear, performance, and maintenance convenience are most impacted. Together, these advancements represent a step-change in WARMAN grinding circuit pump design, giving operators greater control throughout the equipment's service life.
Christian Trulsson, Weir's Global Director of Pump Product Management, stated that WARMAN slurry pumps have established the industry benchmark in slurry and grinding circuit pumping for many years, earning the trust of leading miners in the most demanding applications. WARMAN MCR² grinding circuit pump technology represents the next phase of this evolution, with a design derived from operational experience and the challenges customers currently face, helping them address performance, maintenance, and asset planning issues with greater confidence.
In terms of total cost of ownership management, the pump helps customers reduce overall costs through longer wear life, fewer maintenance interruptions, simplified maintenance procedures, and higher utilization of existing infrastructure.
