I. Conductor Introduction
Rare earth aluminum alloy conductor is a specially developed 8000 series aluminum alloy conductor for distribution application cables. In the US NEC standard, it is clearly specified that architectural aluminum alloy cables should use 8000 series aluminum alloy.
II. Conductivity Introduction
Compared with cables of the same specification, the conductivity of rare earth aluminum alloy cable conductor is 62% of the international annealed copper standard (IACS). According to the cable cross-section specification distribution in international standards, when the cross-section of rare earth aluminum alloy conductor is increased by 1.5 times, its electrical performance is equivalent to that of copper cable.
III. Connection Performance
The alloy composition of rare earth aluminum alloy cable conductor greatly improves its connection performance. During conductor annealing, the addition of iron element greatly enhances the creep resistance of the conductor, ensuring connection stability even under long-term overload and overheating. The connector test results conducted by Georgia Power Company in the United States show that using copper-aluminum transition terminals that have passed the GB/T 9327 (modified adoption of IEC61238) 1000 thermal cycle test can completely solve the thermal expansion problem and copper-aluminum electrochemical corrosion problem at the copper-aluminum connection, fundamentally ensuring long-term stability and reliability of the connection.
IV. Corrosion Resistance
When rare earth aluminum alloy conductor contacts air, it immediately forms a dense oxide layer. This oxide layer is particularly resistant to various forms of corrosion, thus having the characteristic of withstanding the harshest environments; coupled with the optimization of the internal material structure of the alloy conductor and the application of silane cross-linked polyethylene material, rare earth aluminum alloy cable has better corrosion resistance, with service life extended by more than 10 years compared to traditional aluminum core cables.
