The series capacitor compensation technology in AC transmission systems is to connect power capacitors in series into the transmission line to compensate for the transmission line reactance, shorten the equivalent electrical distance of the AC transmission line, reduce the voltage drop and power angle difference caused by power transmission, improve power system stability and expand line transmission capacity. According to the controllability of compensation impedance, series capacitor compensation is divided into: fixed series compensation (FSC) and thyristor-controlled series compensation (TCSC).
Voltage level 220kV~1000kV, rated capacity 80Mvar-1000Mvar. Mainly used to improve the transmission capacity of long-distance transmission networks, improve power balance and stability between regional grids, and is one of the key means for modern grids to improve transmission efficiency.
