Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, Delta TechOps recently announced that it has received authorization from CFM International to provide comprehensive maintenance services for the LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines, becoming the first airline-owned MRO provider in North America with dual-model maintenance capability for these engines. This development, announced on March 13, 2026, comes as global demand for next-generation narrow-body aircraft increases, driving expansion in the LEAP engine maintenance market.

Delta TechOps has expanded its LEAP engine maintenance capabilities based on its long-term partnership with CFM International. Previously, the division became a CFM "Premier MRO" authorized provider for the LEAP-1B engine in 2022, serving the Boeing 737 MAX fleet. Now, the newly added LEAP-1A engine maintenance authorization covers the Airbus A320neo family, enabling TechOps to fully support both mainstream narrow-body aircraft engine types.
Global deliveries of the LEAP engine family have exceeded 8,000 units, with cumulative flight hours reaching hundreds of millions, reflecting its widespread use. Delta TechOps' expansion of its LEAP engine maintenance capabilities coincides with airlines and leasing companies placing substantial orders for A320neo and 737 MAX aircraft, primarily driven by improved fuel efficiency and market demand.
Alain Bellemare, Executive Vice President and Chairman of Delta TechOps International, stated: "The dual-model capability aligns us with the market's direction and reinforces our role as a trusted MRO partner." This expansion brings advantages such as an expanded service portfolio and enhanced market position, and has already secured its first third-party contract to provide LEAP-1B engine support for Korean Air's 737 MAX fleet.
Within the global MRO industry, Delta TechOps now joins the select group of suppliers capable of servicing LEAP engines, with other authorized providers including StandardAero and ST Engineering. As engine technology evolves, MRO suppliers must adapt to remain competitive. By expanding its LEAP engine maintenance capabilities, Delta TechOps demonstrates strategic commitment and is well-positioned to attract more third-party business, strengthening its influence in the global market.
