Wedoany.com Report, On March 13, China's 40-day 2026 Spring Festival travel rush officially concluded. During the travel rush period, Yinchuan Railway Station and its affiliated stations collectively sent 1.62 million passengers, averaging 40,500 passengers per day. This represents an increase of 118,000 passengers compared to last year's Spring Festival travel period, a growth of 7.8%. High-speed rail passenger flow became the main contributor. The Yinchuan-Xi'an High-Speed Rail sent 880,000 passengers, the Yinchuan-Lanzhou High-Speed Rail sent 350,000 passengers, and the Baotou-Yinchuan High-Speed Rail sent 160,000 passengers. These three high-speed rail lines combined sent 1.39 million passengers, accounting for 85.8% of the total passenger volume during the Spring Festival travel rush.

From the perspective of passenger flow trends, during the Spring Festival travel rush, the passenger flow at Yinchuan Railway Station exhibited a pattern of "steady growth before the festival, concentrated prominence during the festival, and orderly decline after the festival." Before the festival, passenger flow was primarily composed of returning and visiting relatives traffic heading to destinations such as Shanghai, Chengdu, Qingdao, and Xi'an, with dense short and medium-distance intercity travel. After the festival, a return peak formed, combining the flow of returning students and migrant workers heading to cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, and Lanzhou. Overall, the passenger flow direction was clear and the distribution orderly. The peak day occurred during the Spring Festival holiday, with a single-day passenger volume of 64,000, setting a new historical record for single-day passenger volume during the Spring Festival holiday.
To meet the phased and directional passenger flow demand, the China Railway Lanzhou Group made advance deployments to fully utilize the transportation capacity of newly opened lines. During the Spring Festival travel rush, based on real-time monitoring of passenger flow changes via 12306 big data, the railway department dynamically optimized train operation plans. It implemented coupled operation for EMU trains on popular routes from Yinchuan to Xi'an, Shanghai, Beijing, and Baotou; dynamically added overnight EMU trains between Yinchuan and Xi'an North and peak-hour EMU trains between Yinchuan and Lanzhou; simultaneously, it flexibly adjusted the formations of conventional-speed trains, adding carriages to conventional-speed trains from Yinchuan to destinations like Shanghai and Kunshan, maximizing the enhancement of transportation capacity supply to ensure "transport capacity follows passenger flow."
In terms of service support, Yinchuan Railway Station, relying on its "Sunflower" service brand, arranged dedicated staff to connect with key passengers, providing "one-to-one" exclusive full-process services. The Yinchuan Passenger Transport Section fully leveraged the advantages of its "Jiangnan on the Frontier · Sincere Yinke" train service brand. For the overnight EMU trains operating during the Spring Festival travel rush, it meticulously designed a "Quiet Escort" service mode, where attendants implemented "soft-spoken service" and "non-disruptive inspections," making passengers' journeys more comfortable. These service measures effectively enhanced the travel experience for passengers and provided strong support for the large passenger flow transportation during the Spring Festival travel rush.
