Wedoany.com Report on Mar 17th, Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued an announcement approving 453 industry standards. Among them, three building materials industry standards led by Huaxin Cement Group have been officially approved and will be implemented starting September 1, 2026. These standards represent key achievements of the first batch of special industry standards for carbon peak and carbon neutrality under MIIT, providing a technical basis for the green and low-carbon transformation of the cement industry.

The cement industry is a crucial sector for achieving the dual carbon goals. Utilizing solid waste such as household waste to replace traditional fossil fuels is an effective carbon reduction pathway. The standards led by Huaxin establish a comprehensive technical system covering alternative fuel preparation, co-processing in cement kilns, and carbon emission reduction assessment. This helps increase the proportion of fuel substitution and reduce carbon emissions.

These standards fill the gap in domestic emission reduction accounting for fuel substitution projects, making the emission reduction outcomes measurable, reportable, and verifiable. They also introduce new indicators such as utilization rate, standardizing the preparation process from household waste to qualified alternative fuels, providing solutions for the industry.
At the end of 2021, MIIT initiated the first batch of special industry standards for carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Leveraging nearly two decades of technical practice, Huaxin undertook the lead role in their development. The drafting group, consisting of over 20 institutions, underwent multiple rounds of discussions and reviews, passing the industry review in Beijing in August 2024.
In November 2024, Huaxin was approved as one of the first batch of low-carbon standardization workstations in the building materials industry. Among the first batch of low-carbon standards under MIIT, Huaxin leads or participates in the development of the highest number of standards among cement enterprises, demonstrating its technical leadership in the field of low-carbon standards. The release of these standards will help drive the transformation of the cement industry and contribute industry strength towards the dual carbon goals.
