IKEA Parent Company Ingka Group Plans to Cut 800 Jobs While Simultaneously Opening 20 New Stores

en.Wedoany.com Report, On March 19th, news emerged that Ingka Group, the parent company of Swedish furniture giant IKEA, announced plans to cut approximately 800 positions within its group functions to streamline its organizational structure. Concurrently, it aims to open up to 20 new IKEA stores globally by September 2027, which is expected to create 500 new jobs.
Ingka stated that simplifying the structure aims to enhance decision-making efficiency and accelerate digital transformation. The store expansion will focus on growth markets in Europe and Asia to offset weakness in offline retail and strengthen its omnichannel presence.
