Subsea7 awarded Gulf of Mexico contract by LLOG Exploration worth $50M to $150M
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, subsea engineering services provider Subsea7 was awarded a subsea engineering contract by LLOG Exploration for the Who Dat East development project. Subsea7 classified the contract as "sizeable," corresponding to a contract value range of $50 million to $150 million. Who Dat East is located in Mississippi Canyon MC 509-1 lease area in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, at a water depth of approximately 1,300 meters.

The contract scope includes the fabrication, transport, and installation of approximately 29 kilometers of steel catenary risers and pipe-in-pipe systems to tie the Who Dat East field into the existing Who Dat floating production system, as well as the installation of umbilicals and subsea control systems. Project management and engineering design will commence immediately at Subsea7's Houston office, with offshore installation activities scheduled to begin in 2028.
Who Dat East reached its final investment decision in August. The project is operated by LLOG Exploration, a wholly owned subsidiary of Harbour Energy, and the development concept consists of a single-well subsea tieback that will complete the Who Dat East discovery well drilled in 2024 and connect it to the existing Who Dat floating production system. Project partners include Harbour Energy with a 40% stake, Karoon USA with a 40% stake, and Westlawn Americas Offshore with a 20% stake, with first production expected in the second half of 2028.
The Who Dat East development concept had previously entered the front-end engineering design phase. According to Karoon data, the discovery is located approximately 27 kilometers east of the Who Dat floating production system and contains natural gas and condensate resources; preliminary studies ultimately determined a single-well initial development plan with direct tieback to existing production facilities, while retaining the potential for additional development wells in the future.
