China-Myanmar Crude Oil Pipeline Surpasses 100 Million Tons in Cumulative Oil Transportation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation (PipeChina) announced that the China-Myanmar Crude Oil Pipeline has transported over 100 million tons of crude oil in cumulative volume since it was commissioned in June 2017. The pipeline enters China's Yunnan Province from the west coast of Myanmar and is an important cross-border crude oil import channel for China. The domestic section has a total length of 618 kilometers; after entering China at Ruili, Yunnan, it connects to the Anning Refinery of Yunnan Petrochemical, undertaking the tasks of cross-border transportation of imported crude oil and the supply of refining and chemical feedstock.

The China-Myanmar Crude Oil Pipeline starts from Maday Island in the Kyaukpyu area of Myanmar. The Myanmar section is approximately 771 kilometers long, with a Phase I designed annual oil transmission capacity of 13 million tons. Imported crude oil is unloaded at ports along the Indian Ocean coast, transported through the pipeline within Myanmar to the China-Myanmar border, and then delivered via the pipeline within China to refining and chemical facilities in Yunnan. Together with the China-Myanmar Natural Gas Pipeline, the crude oil pipeline forms a cross-border oil and gas transportation system, undertaking crude oil and natural gas transmission tasks respectively.

Data published by PipeChina in October 2023 showed that the China-Myanmar Crude Oil Pipeline had transported more than 63 million tons of oil in cumulative volume at that time; in June 2026, Yunnan Company of PipeChina disclosed that the cumulative transmission volume of the crude oil pipeline had reached 96 million tons. The current breakthrough of 100 million tons marks a new cumulative transmission milestone since the cross-border crude oil transportation system was put into operation.
