This decision was based on his personal request and has been approved through mutual agreement between the company and the Supervisory Board.

The company expressed gratitude for Mudesir's contributions over the past eight years, specifically highlighting his role in advancing technology strategy and innovation initiatives. During this period, current Chief Financial Officer Christian Illek will temporarily assume responsibility for the Technology and Innovation division while continuing his existing duties. This arrangement aims to ensure operational continuity while the company searches for a long-term successor. Deutsche Telekom emphasized that the company's strategic direction remains unchanged, and priorities in product development and technology infrastructure will continue to be executed.
Illek has extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, and his financial background intersects strongly with the technology sector, particularly in procurement. He is currently involved in several technology-related projects, which positions him to effectively manage the transition period.
Abdu Mudesir played a key role in shaping Deutsche Telekom's technology strategy. Since joining the company in 2018, he has held several leadership positions, most recently serving as Managing Director of Technology at Telekom Deutschland GmbH and concurrently as the Group's Chief Technology Officer.
Mudesir was instrumental in advancing critical initiatives, including the expansion of mobile and fiber optic networks, as well as driving innovation in Open RAN, cloud infrastructure, and AI-powered network operations. His work helped solidify the company's position in an increasingly competitive and technology-driven telecommunications environment.
With over 15 years of experience in the technology field, Mudesir began his career at Altran Technologies and moved to Huawei in 2012. He holds a doctorate in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from International University Bremen and has completed an Executive MBA program at Stanford University.
