en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 24th, The FS Italiane Group of Italy has awarded a contract worth €117 million to Webuild and its subsidiary Cossi Construzioni for the construction of the Mondovi bypass in the Piedmont region. This 3-kilometer highway project is a crucial part of the SS28 del Colle di Nava national road and includes a 1.4-kilometer-long San Lorenzo tunnel, a 240-meter-long Ellero viaduct, and an artificial tunnel.

The Ellero viaduct within this highway project will be built as intelligent infrastructure, equipped with IoT sensors to transmit real-time data on deck stability and the hydrogeological conditions of the river below. The new road will improve traffic connectivity between the A6 Turin-Savona motorway and the valleys of the Cuneo area. Webuild stated that the construction site will fully recycle and reuse water resources through a circular economy system to minimize environmental impact; a digital sensor network will optimize water and energy consumption, while mobile barriers will be used to reduce dust dispersion.
This highway project will prioritize local wildlife protection during construction. In addition to using acoustic and visual deterrents to keep animals away from work areas, temporary wildlife crossings will also be provided. Upon completion, the project will enhance the efficiency of the regional transportation network and offer more convenient travel conditions for the Piedmont region.
