A letter of intent has been signed to explore the transformation of PKP CARGOTABOR, currently undergoing restructuring, within the framework of the PKP Group.
The proposal considers options such as selling or leasing the company or a portion of its operations to PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa (PKP LHS). The letter of intent, signed on December 10, 2024, in Warsaw, paves the way for further analysis and agreement, with a target completion date of July 1, 2025.
PKP CARGOTABOR specializes in rolling stock maintenance and repair services, primarily serving PKP CARGO and its subsidiaries. Amid the financial challenges faced by PKP CARGO, the transformation concept aims to maintain service points across Poland, including locations such as Gorzów Wielkopolski, Toruń, Tczew, Kluczbork, and others.
The company’s future headquarters is planned for Tarnów. Further steps will involve detailed evaluations to finalize the terms of potential integration or asset transfer between PKP CARGOTABOR and PKP LHS.
This move aligns with ongoing restructuring efforts across the PKP Group, focusing on operational continuity and financial stability within its rolling stock service sector.
