en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 27th, RP Global has signed an agreement to acquire two solar PV projects in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, from Vattenfall, with a total capacity of approximately 15 MWp. Named Schöntal and Widdern, these projects are eligible for the EEG feed-in tariff scheme. They were developed by Vattenfall's subsidiary Solizer and transferred to RP Global at a later stage. Currently, only the Schöntal solar park, with a capacity of 7.1 MWp, has reached financial close. This project will be the first in Germany constructed by RP Global in cooperation with its EPC partner MaxSolar, based on a recent cooperation agreement between the two parties.

Ray Zawalski, Country Manager of RP Global Germany, stated: "The acquisition of the Widdern and Schöntal projects marks a key step in our ongoing expansion, extending RP Global's geographical footprint into southwestern Germany. Given the slow pace of grid expansion, we aim to generate power closer to consumption centers. We see significant development potential in southern and western Germany." "Implementation work is expected to commence in the coming months, with the goal of bringing both sites into operation by the end of the year."

The Schöntal project benefits from priority construction rights due to its location near a motorway. A procedural freedom clause introduced in June 2025 by the Baden-Württemberg building code made this project one of the first in the state to enjoy priority status without requiring additional approval. The project's environmental and social impacts have been consulted with relevant authorities and carefully assessed.

The Schöntal project is located near the UNESCO World Heritage site Limes, the border fortifications of the Roman Empire. This makes it RP Global's second project involving a historical site, following the construction of a PV power plant in Harbke, Germany's oldest lignite mining area. Construction for the Schöntal project is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
