en.Wedoany.com Report, On the morning of March 26, the ceremony marking the full operational status of the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Site was held on Donghai Island in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China. Around 10:40 AM, Huang Kunming, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Meng Fanli, Deputy Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Guangdong, along with Dr. Martin Brudermüller, Chairman of the Executive Board of BASF SE, and other Chinese and international guests jointly pressed the startup button, officially marking the project's full-scale production commencement. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, and Dr. Katharina Reiche, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, delivered video messages for the occasion.

It is reported that the BASF (Guangdong) Integrated Site project is independently constructed and operated by BASF. It is a landmark national foreign-invested project, the largest foreign-invested project in China's petrochemical industry, and the "first case" of a wholly foreign-owned enterprise in China's heavy chemical industry.
The project is located in the Donghai Island Petrochemical Industrial Park in Zhanjiang. Comprehensive construction began in September 2022. By the end of February this year, cumulative investment had exceeded 60 billion yuan. Completed and operational facilities include a steam cracker with an annual capacity of 1 million tons of ethylene and multiple downstream units. With the project now fully operational, this site has become BASF's third-largest integrated production site globally. It will provide stable, high-quality raw materials for industries such as automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, apparel, and daily chemicals. This will help reduce the domestic market's dependence on imports of high-end products and provide strong support for Guangdong in accelerating the development of a world-class green petrochemical industry cluster and building a more robust modern industrial system.
