The Kingswood Battery Energy Storage System is a crucial component of Iberdrola's renewable energy portfolio in Australia. With a designed capacity of 270 MW/1,080 MWh, it will provide stable support to the local power grid. Despite receiving over 50 objections previously, the Commission concluded after community meetings and site assessments that the project aligns with state government policies and that potential impacts can be managed through conditions.

In a statement, the Independent Planning Commission stated: "The application meets statutory requirements and is consistent with New South Wales Government policy, with potential impacts able to be managed or mitigated through the imposition of consent conditions." Iberdrola's Australian renewable energy investment portfolio currently has a total capacity of 2.5 GW, with an operational capacity of 2.74 GW.
