en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. have recently signed a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) aimed at providing the environmental value of renewable energy generated from wind power. According to this agreement, Fuji Electric will receive the environmental value for approximately 10,000,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This energy originates from the Enshu wind power plant currently under construction by Cosmo Eco Power, which has a capacity of 6.33 megawatts.

These environmental attributes will be applied to Fuji Electric's Matsumoto Plant in Nagano, which primarily manufactures power semiconductors. This VPPA is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 4,210 tons annually, an amount roughly equivalent to the annual carbon emissions of 1,700 households.

The agreement aligns with Fuji Electric's "Environmental Vision 2050," which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from production activities by more than 46% compared to FY2019 levels by FY2030. To achieve this, Fuji Electric is advancing measures such as improving energy efficiency, installing on-site solar power systems, and increasing the procurement of renewable energy. The company plans to increase the proportion of renewable energy in its total electricity consumption from 9% in FY2024 to 55% by 2030.

Cosmo Eco Power stated that this wind power VPPA supports its strategic goals of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and expanding renewable energy deployment in Japan.
