Nordex launches 7.3 MW N193/7.X onshore wind turbine, mass production planned for 2029

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 22, German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group unveiled the N193/7.X, a new model on its Delta4000 platform. The turbine has a maximum rated power of 7.3 MW and features a 193-meter-diameter rotor and 95-meter single-piece blades, primarily targeting medium- and low-wind-speed onshore wind farms. Nordex said the new model will be offered in multiple rated-power configurations, with series production scheduled to begin in 2029.

The N193/7.X retains the existing nacelle, turbine control system and electrical architecture of the Delta4000 platform, with further optimizations for the new model. According to Nordex's published performance figures, at typical medium- and low-wind-speed sites, the N193/7.X can achieve up to 14% higher energy production than the N175/6.X. Its 193-meter rotor corresponds to a larger swept area, which is used to improve energy capture in low-wind-speed environments.

The new model adopts an adjustable-power design, allowing the operating mode to be selected according to the wind resource, noise limits, capacity factor and design life requirements of different projects. Nordex will also offer a variety of tower technologies and configuration options for the N193/7.X to suit site conditions and permitting requirements in different markets. In the German market, the first phase will be supplied in a version with a maximum of 6.6 MW, focused on matching local medium- and low-wind-speed projects as well as grid-connection and permitting conditions.

From a product hierarchy perspective, the N193/7.X is not a redevelopment of the existing Delta4000 platform, but rather an expansion of rotor size and an increase in per-turbine capacity based on the existing platform. The platform previously covered onshore wind turbine models such as the N163/6.X and N175/6.X, and Nordex's recently signed orders in Germany still include the N163/6.X and N175/6.X models. The newly launched N193/7.X will extend the Delta4000 series' rotor diameter to 193 meters and raise the maximum rated power to 7.3 MW.

Nordex has set mass production of the new model for 2029, and the next stage currently defined is to complete product introduction and advance configuration and certification work for different markets. The company has not yet announced the first commercial order, the installation site of the first prototype, or the specific commissioning date for the N193/7.X.
