en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Swedish Sensys Gatso Group has recently installed its first gantry-mounted automatic traffic enforcement cameras for the Swedish Transport Administration on three high-traffic roads. The partnership between the two parties dates back to the early 1990s.

The three new gantry installation sites are located on Road 27 in the Kärda area outside Värnamo, the Stallbacka Bridge in Trollhättan, and Road 21 in Vanneberga. Erik Hemgren, Key Account Manager at Sensys Gatso Sweden, stated: "By mounting the cameras on gantries above the road, we can now monitor more lanes simultaneously." The company notes that gantry installations provide a wider traffic overview compared to roadside equipment.

This installation is part of a procurement award announced in October 2022, where Sensys Gatso Sweden was selected to supply new traffic safety cameras for the automatic traffic enforcement program under a 12-year contract, covering deployment and maintenance services. The automatic traffic enforcement system is jointly managed by the Swedish Transport Administration and the Swedish Police Authority.

Jörgen Andersson, Managing Director of Sensys Gatso Sweden, said: "Sweden's ATK program saves up to 20 lives annually, helping to make Swedish roads among the safest in the world." The system's goal is to reduce average speeds on accident-prone road sections, thereby decreasing the number of collisions, fatalities, and serious injuries. Sensys Gatso's speed enforcement system features a cone in front of the camera that creates an air column, helping to keep the lens clean.
