en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to Danish shipbroker MB Shipbrokers, Evalend Shipping, a Greek shipowner under Kriton Lendoudis, has resold two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers it ordered from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries to European alternative asset management firm Hayfin Capital Management, with delivery expected in 2029.

According to Dragon Ship Orderbook records, Evalend had ordered a total of four 174,000 cubic meter LNG carriers from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in batches in 2023 (2 vessels) and 2024 (2 vessels), with the individual vessel prices for the two batches being $265 million and $269 million respectively. These newbuilds were originally scheduled for full delivery by May 2028.

Specific details of Evalend's resale transaction are not yet known. However, regardless of which two newbuilds were sold, the delivery dates have been postponed.

It is noteworthy that this acquisition of two LNG carriers under construction from Evalend marks Hayfin Capital Management's first foray into the LNG carrier newbuilding market. Although it has prior investment records in the LNG sector, these were limited to second-hand vessels or support through portfolio investments/financing.

In the LNG carrier market, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has publicly secured orders for 9 new vessels so far this year, including 8 units of 200,000 cubic meter LNG carriers ordered by Norway's Ocean Yield/NYK Line, and one 180,000 cubic meter LNG carrier for Greece's Tsakos.
