en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Andalusian Housing and Rehabilitation Agency (Agencia de Vivienda y Rehabilitación de Andalucía, AVRA), under the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Andalusian Government (Consejería de Fomento, Articulación del Territorio y Vivienda de la Junta de Andalucía), has launched a tender for energy efficiency improvements to nine public rental housing units located in buildings 16 and 17 of Plaza de la Corredera in Córdoba. The project aims to reduce non-renewable energy consumption and pollutant emissions in buildings situated in the historic city center.
The contract has a tender budget of 287,705 euros, an estimated execution period of six months, and a bid submission deadline of June 17 at 2:00 PM. The renovation is funded by AVRA's own resources and the Horizon Europe program, which will provide 110,500 euros within the framework of the European FuturHist project. FuturHist is a research project developing energy efficiency solutions for historic buildings.
The buildings undergoing renovation belong to a complex listed as a Cultural Heritage Site (Bien de Interés Cultural), which determines the type of technical solutions applicable. The works are divided into two areas: the main historic building facing the square and its annexes, containing three public housing units; and the more modern buildings arranged around the urban space, containing six social housing units.
For the three housing units located in the main historic building, AVRA has conducted prior monitoring of the building's actual performance by installing sensors in different rooms. The sensors measure humidity, temperature, and indoor air quality. The data is being analyzed by Eurac Research, the lead partner of the FuturHist project, and will be compared with the results after the renovation.
Parts of the building are under a high level of protection, requiring passive measures to be applied from the interior of the envelope. The proposed solutions include multilayer insulation panels made of prefabricated lime mortar incorporating bio-sourced recycled materials, as well as high-performance thermal paints made with lime and recycled components.
The project also plans to preserve and restore the original wooden exterior doors and windows. These will be retrofitted by replacing the existing single glazing with vacuum-insulated glass, while maintaining the original design, materials, and colors. Inside one of the housing units, an existing partition wall will be replaced with an experimental partition made of clay and charcoal blocks, finished with lime, to assess its capacity to act as a humidity and carbon dioxide sink.
In the newer buildings, which house six social housing units, the works focus on improving the roofs and facades. Additionally, the wooden doors and windows will be restored and preserved, with the addition of double glazing and insulating panels.
This renovation is part of a broader project for the housing on Plaza de la Corredera. Within this framework, the Andalusian Government is currently carrying out energy efficiency renovation works co-financed by the Andalusian FEDER Program (Programa Feder Andalucía 2021-2027), which are 72% complete. This series of renovations will improve the energy performance of 27 public housing units on the square.
Since 2019, the Regional Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing has been promoting energy efficiency renovations in public buildings through the introduction of innovative renewable energy systems. This year, AVRA has allocated over 5 million euros to such actions, aimed at improving housing comfort and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
