en.Wedoany.com Reported - During the "Technology and Innovation: Challenges for Growth Across All Industries" session held on the final day of the 16th International Mining Convention, it was noted that the urgency of adopting advanced technologies and designing new business practices will accompany the industry's uncertainties.

Diego Montoya, Google Cloud's Regional Manager for Peru and Ecuador, emphasized in his keynote speech that artificial intelligence is no longer an isolated tool but a foundational platform that reconfigures organizational competitiveness. Montoya stated that AI can design agents to optimize repetitive tasks, but the true innovation lies not in a specific functional area, but in the design of new practices enabled by technology. He believes this is a business definition for enterprises, one that companies can no longer postpone or delegate solely to their technology departments.

Artificial intelligence is accelerating industry transformation, influencing other variables such as consumption and retail. It is changing the way humans interact with the world by simplifying processes and shortening development times.

Montoya pointed out that AI holds immense potential in traditional extractive and production industries that need to manage massive amounts of data, accelerate internal processes, and improve productivity. He introduced a system applying digital twins through hyper-connectivity, capable of projecting all activities of an open-pit mine or underground tunnel to interact with equipment in real-time.

Through a project by the company TIMining, Montoya demonstrated how an intelligent agent platform analyzes the flow of trucks to crushers, detecting factors like partial loads or downtime to issue early warnings. He believes this technology expands workers' operational capabilities, moving from post-event analysis to establishing real-time alerts for immediate action. He highlighted that the mining industry has an advantage because almost all equipment comes with sensors from the factory; the current challenge lies in how to efficiently connect this information.

Regarding corporate transformation, Montoya emphasized the role of agentic AI, which involves deploying agents capable of autonomously solving complex operational tasks. Google's forecasts indicate that within the next two years, each individual within a company could simultaneously have up to four digital agents.

Analyzing the speed of the current technological wave, Montoya noted that the originally predicted adoption timeline for this decade has unexpectedly accelerated. He stated that the best way to predict the future is to create it.
