The Tarim Oilfield is fully leveraging the unique solar energy resources in the region surrounding the Taklamakan Desert to accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient modern energy system. Currently, the oilfield has built five centralized photovoltaic power stations with a total installed capacity of 2.6 million kilowatts.

On the basis of the safe and stable operation of existing photovoltaic projects, the Tarim Oilfield is accelerating the construction of new projects. On the Gobi desert in the southern part of Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang, the Tarim Oilfield Ruoqiang million-kilowatt photovoltaic project, covering an area of 25,903 mu, is under intense construction. The project innovatively employs intelligent photovoltaic installation robots for operations, significantly improving work efficiency.

Liang Yulei, Manager of the New Energy Division of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield: The Ruoqiang project is the second million-kilowatt-level photovoltaic project built by the Tarim Oilfield. It has now officially entered the large-scale photovoltaic panel installation phase and is planned to be completed and connected to the grid by the end of November this year. Once operational, the project can generate 1.617 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

It is understood that, in addition to the Ruoqiang million-kilowatt photovoltaic project, the Tarim Oilfield has three other photovoltaic power generation projects under accelerated construction. The total installed capacity of these new projects reaches 1.8 million kilowatts, all of which are planned to be completed and put into operation within this year.
